Homecoming Breakfast 2006

I talked to Ed yesterday, and the current members/officers forgot to send out invitations, etc on time, and instead managed to get something in the mail Saturday afternoon, so if you were expecting an invitation it should be there by now.
I suggested to Ed that we do something as alums to encourage the guys to get this done on time in the future, and Ed stated that he and the other advisors/sponsors spoke this up weeks in advance, but unfortunately they dont have Belcher. Nic can you go back and be the HR sponsor for club? Get the right guys in, explain functions and act as disciplinarian when necessary, and YES you can use Sparky on disillusioned members who cant perform there job duties or live up to expectations.
We need to figure out a way for those guys to work that list constantly and consistently, maybe they need to watch tapes of the 1991 Michigan Baseketball season, and see Mr. Consistency, Sean Griffin in action!
The point here is for us to find a way to help the members invite us to town, and to start a website (that maybe we keep up along with club historian each year); and finally a semesterly newsletter of what is going on in club. Remember when Ricky would send these out each summer to the guys, with a top 10 list and all.

So, that's Homecoming Breakfast in the Bean Sprout at 6:30am this Saturday, October 14th, 2006.
See ya there.

I wanted to make one commnet on myself, NO I am not trying to live vicariously through the lives of the current members; but instead a healthy, active and inquisitive alumni base makes for a stronger club. Ask any Re-Charter member what it was like when we re-chartered the club in 1988; there was a mixed response from the alums, and alot of those from the 80's were NOT all that active as alums or members anyway...nowadays we go back and there's a strong presence from the 90's and 00's.
The point I am trying to make is that I love ACU and I love Kinsmen, and without each I wouldnt be here today; and so I want those guys there now to know that we care, we want to support them and we want them to be successful.

My apologies to the fellas for NOT showing up this year, especially after all that talk. After a mesmerizing number of mishaps and changes in situation, we chose to stay home this year.
I am sure ya'll had a great time.
